International Pet Travel

Is your pet a jetsetter?

Urban Animal started Travel Animal to help clients with the dynamic requirements and documentation when your pet travels with you.

Getting an international health certificate for your pet can be complicated and time-consuming along with the associated costs. Many veterinary practices no longer issue these certificates due to the time and challenges working with the USDA. Travel Animal still does! Depending on your intended destination, the process can take 1-6 months and cost $500 – $2,000+ based on requirements.

Every country has unique and often changing requirements to bring a pet into their country. Based on the destination there may be regulations in which to comply, including but not limited to: FAVN Rabies titer tests, parasite treatments, and other additional testing.

Travel Animal strongly recommends using a pet transport company to ensure a smooth travel process. We use WorldCare Pet Transport (www.worldcarepet.com). If you opt not to, you will be required to sign a liability release form.

All Travel Animal consults for international health certificates are scheduled appointments at our Downtown location.

INTERNATIONAL HEATH CERTIFICATE INQUIRY FORM

Many veterinary practices no longer issue international health certificates due to the time involved and difficulty of working with the USDA. Every country has unique and ever- changing requirements. Based on your intended destination, the process can take 1-6 months and cost from $500 – $2000+ depending on the amount of testing required by the specific country.

To help pet owners successfully complete the complicated international health certificate process Urban Animal has developed strict guidelines by which we research, process, and issue the certificates. First and foremost, we strongly recommend you work with a professional pet transport company. The pet transport company we recommend is WorldCarePet Transport. If you elect to proceed without pet transport company involvement, you as the pet owner will be required to sign a waiver releasing Urban Animal of all liability involved with travel issues that may arise.

Note: International Health Certificates are not required for travel to Mexico or Canada.

In the fall of 2023, Urban Animal embarks on something truly different – in the veterinary industry and the U.S. – a workers’ cooperative. In the last decade, there has been an insane influx of private equity and venture capital into the industry which has drastically changed the trajectory of how veterinary medicine is delivered and what it costs.

As a workers’ cooperative, Urban Animal is poised to keep how veterinary medicine is practiced and who influences how the industry evolves in the hands of those on the frontlines – veterinary professionals not a faceless cadre focused solely on the bottom line. Urban Animal Cooperative strives to be sustainable and transparent with a democratically-governed organization where employees have a voice in how the company grows, keeping pets, people and profits in harmony. How Urban Animal delivers veterinary care is by embracing convenience, in its multifarious definition and subjective interpretation. First, convenience in our walk-in model promotes a fast-paced environment, respectful self-advocacy, and economically-priced services with the flexibility of same day service. Secondly, convenience also thrives in our appointment model which promotes an opportunity to schedule dedicated time with enhanced conversations in a more relaxed space when more time with the veterinary team is desired and financial resources are more fluid.

Regardless of model, Urban Animal’s veterinary team provide compassionate, option-based veterinary care by professionals with extensive experience in the field of veterinary medicine. We are passionate about providing accurate information regarding your pet’s health, while also presenting a range of treatment options. Currently with three convenient locations in Capitol Hill, Downtown Seattle, and White Center  – with FREE PARKING – Urban Animal is not your everyday veterinary practice and you’ll sense the difference the moment you step through our front door.

We provide options and discuss calculated risks (evidence-based medicine + experience) so you can make the best decisions for you and your pet.

Clinical experience and empathy. Urban Animal veterinarians have the needed experience and bedside manner to be a great GP and are not incentivized by you spending more money on your pet’s care. Our veterinarians are paid a salary and not compensated based on your bill.

No one size fits all and wellness plans were created by profiteers selling you things you won’t use or don’t need. We take each individual pet’s needs and risk factors into consideration when making any decisions around your pet’s care.

When shit happens, we are uniquely qualified to help with routine things.

Appointments are now available which makes getting the basics done easier. We want your pet to be happy and that means finding a balance of care that fits their needs and yours. No one size fits all wellness plans here – and zero upsell.
