Surgery

We can often help when others can’t. That’s what we do.

Urban Animal offers surgical services that go well beyond the typical general practice. While not boarded surgeons, many of our veterinarians have extensive backgrounds in emergency medicine and more advanced surgical care.

Spays, neuters, and mass removals may be common procedures, but they still need expert care. At Urban Animal, each surgery is treated with the same attention, skill, and compassion. Our experienced surgical teams make sure your pet stays safe and comfortable while in our care. Because when it comes to your pet, routine still deserves the best.

Our experienced veterinary team is equipped to handle urgent surgeries—like foreign body removal and other time-sensitive procedures—most often the same day. With years of hands-on emergency and surgical experience, we’re able to provide the kind of advanced care many general practices just can’t.

As the cost of referral veterinary medicine rises, many needed orthopedic surgeries have become increasingly inaccessible. Urban Animal recommends a board-certified veterinary specialist when the situation allows. We also believe accessibility is needed.

Dr. Aspen Davidoff brings advanced training and years of hands-on experience in many common orthopedic procedures as well as soft tissue surgeries. While not board-certified, her surgical experience allows us to confidently manage many complex cases in-house—providing timely, high-quality care when referral isn’t possible. When you need accessibility, contact Urban Animal and see how we could help. Dr. Davidoff performs all orthopedic surgeries at our White Center location.

In the fall of 2023, Urban Animal embarks on something truly different – in the veterinary industry and the U.S. – a workers’ cooperative. In the last decade, there has been an insane influx of private equity and venture capital into the industry which has drastically changed the trajectory of how veterinary medicine is delivered and what it costs.

As a workers’ cooperative, Urban Animal is poised to keep how veterinary medicine is practiced and who influences how the industry evolves in the hands of those on the frontlines – veterinary professionals not a faceless cadre focused solely on the bottom line. Urban Animal Cooperative strives to be sustainable and transparent with a democratically-governed organization where employees have a voice in how the company grows, keeping pets, people and profits in harmony. Learn more about Urban Animal’s Cooperative.

How Urban Animal delivers veterinary care is by embracing convenience, in its multifarious definition and subjective interpretation. First, convenience in our walk-in model promotes a fast-paced environment, respectful self-advocacy, and economically-priced services with the flexibility of same day service. Secondly, convenience also thrives in our appointment model which promotes an opportunity to schedule dedicated time with enhanced conversations in a more relaxed space when more time with the veterinary team is desired and financial resources are more fluid.

Regardless of model, Urban Animal’s veterinary team provide compassionate, option-based veterinary care by professionals with extensive experience in the field of veterinary medicine. We are passionate about providing accurate information regarding your pet’s health, while also presenting a range of treatment options. Currently with three convenient locations in Capitol Hill, Downtown Seattle, and White Center  – with FREE PARKING – Urban Animal is not your everyday veterinary practice and you’ll sense the difference the moment you step through our front door.
